Ford Police Interceptor 2013-newer • Re: 2015 Interceptor Console Switch Out

I recently came into owning my 2015 FPIS, one of the many things I was looking to on it was make the console switch too. Purchased one from a SHO with the rear heater controls, and am currently waiting to get back home from work out of state soon to take a stab at installing it myself, although the guy I ordered from on EBay seems to have sent me a cracked POS with trashed clips. Ugh.

When I was researching, I found a plethora of totally different information and techniques, lol. I'd use a multimeter to be safe but this is from what I can gather though:

This video might be the most straightforward,

He shows a pinout at 5:25 for power/ground for the ambient lighting and cigarette lighter. Not sure if anything changed depending on model year but I would doubt it. Should be able to find 12V/Ground to splice for the cigarette lighter, and same for the ambient lighting but wired in-line with the dimmer on the car. You could get really fancy and have the color switch with the door open. Somewhere I swear I came across one showing the civilian plug pin out for the red LEDs as well, maybe on Youtube?

Since the PI pigtails have a hot, ignition, and door power options you should be able to splice how you'd like. You should also be able to order a pigtail to plug in on the car side so that you don't mangle up the wiring too bad.

If you can get the harness from a civilian taurus to plug into the console, and the pigtail connector to plug into the 14-way on the Interceptor, I don't see why you couldn't splice those to have as close to 'factory wiring' as possible. Can try to look here in a bit.

I'm surprised no one manufactures plug and play adapters for a lot of the commonly swapped parts. I'm personally pretty interested in trying to find wiring diagrams and a 3D printer in the future...

Not sure if the 'media hub' ports like RCA/SD on lower civilian trims with SYNC 1/2, or I guess in the console you have with aux/usb can be easily wired into the car. Might be possible if the car has SYNC 1 like if you have Bluetooth, I believe.

Do the PI's with factory center console have any ports? If so, we should be able to use the SYNC 3 media hubs with USB/USB-C, since there are adapters made for the SYNC1/2 to 3 media hubs.

AUX might just be able to be run to the back of your radio depending on setup with a 3.5mm. Potentially the same with the USB. If you just want power going to USB, you might be able to just wire it like the cigarette lighter but with a resistor to drop to 5V.
