I would get rid of the remote starter. A modern car -- and even a 4th gen Taurus is a modern car -- doesn't need to sit and warm up. Carburetors benefited from being warmed up, but the last car with a carburetor rolled off the line in about 1993. With fuel injection and electronic engine management, you're fine just letting it start and idle for 30 seconds or a minute before you take off.

If I need defrosting, I start the car and it runs while I scrape. That's usually enough.
