Ford Police Interceptor 2013-newer • Front lights heads/turns/parks

I dove into the first "drivability" piece being the front lights. I can't go many places especially now that the days are short without headlights and front turn signals.

I did the typical snooping around and not knowing this vehicle at all went down a number of rabbit holes... but I think I'm on track now.

The PI heads weren't working because whoever removed the safety equipment got a little clip-happy and cut the left headlamp bulb wires AND the headlight shutter wires. On the passenger side the headlight bulb wires were intact but the shutter wires were cut.

  • Off with the pushbars
  • Out with both headlights
  • Exercised my lowest proficiency... soldering wires. But got everything back together.
Now, while working out my little headlight issue I noticed there were no parking/turn bulbs or sockets in the car at all. I also don't see the harness butchered anywhere but there's nothing long enough or even the right configuration to plug into a simple bulb socket for park/turns. I went online and ordered new sockets figuring I'd later get to a JY for hands-on figuring out how they connected in. As you might already know the standard turn signal socket doesn't fit the PI since the housing was cut for the wig-wag instead.

The great fountain of Google instructed me to either buy wig-wags or fashion a conversion using a PIU harness. For now I have a wig-wag ordered (to see if plug-n-play works) AND have ordered the PIU signal harness to try making an adapter.

I will update this post as things arrive and I can move forward.
